Attaching a Style Sheet

  • We have a page that does not contain styles and we will attach a style sheet to our page
  • We will also take a look at the Related Files toolbar and when it shows up in Dreamweaver
  • The Related Files toolbar shows up automatically if there are files that are needed by our web page in order to work correctly
  • We are going to attach the styles-screen.css file to the destinations.html page
  • Click the + sign within the Sources area of the CSS Designer panel to add a new source
  • Browse to the styles-screen.css file within the course files for this chapter
  • Open the Conditional Usage area within the Attach Existing CSS File dialog box
  • Select media and screen within the Conditions section
  • You should not see the first 2 lines change within this file
  • Our page has tags that need styles
  • Once a style sheet has been attached to a page, you can add styles to the external style sheet from the HTML page
  • We will add new styles to this page for the various lists on our destinations page
  • Add styles for the ul, ol, li, dd and dt tags
  • The styles that are added to the external style sheet will apply to any page that links to that style sheet so every page gets updated automatically

Attaching a Style Sheet
