Dreamweaver CS6 is the last licensed version of Dreamweaver that you download completely onto your system and the license never expires. The program also never gets an update beyond the initial one or 2 updates for that version.

The CC in Dreamweaver CC stands for Creative Cloud, and is the version of Dreamweaver that consistently updates the program to the latest version. Creative Cloud requires a monthly subscription, it is not a one time version fee like Dreamweaver CS6. The CC version is consistently changing and includes the latest Dreamweaver features. When you pay the monthly subscription fee you know that you will always have a version that contains all the new features of Dreamweaver.

What is the difference between CC and CS6?

What is Dreamweaver?

  • Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG HTML Editor (What you see is what you get)
  • Dreamweaver speeds up web page development by creating tags for you behind the scenes
  • Dreamweaver creates code for the web page as you use the interface menus or shortcuts
  • Dreamweaver allows you to view both the code and design as you build web pages through different views within the program
  • There is also a split view that allows you to see both the code and the design at the same time
  • Unlike other computer programs, Dreamweaver is limited by the web environment and HTML
  • Dreamweaver takes what you choose in the interface and converts it into code
  • You can always move into code view to see exactly what might be causing an issue in the browser
  • Dreamweaver allows you to build web pages using the interface and code is created for you, or creating the code yourself while being able to easily view the page in Design View or within multiple browsers
