We are going to create a template for our website so all of our pages will have a consistent look
There are a few different ways to create a template
You can build a page with the complete look you want to have and convert that page to a template
You can create a blank html page, add your design, convert that to a template and move your page content into it
Start with a blank Dreamweaver template page and build your page from there
We presently have pages that have been created but do not have any specific CSS positioning attached to them
We are going to use a page that has been created using CSS positioning and use that page as our template
Open template-convert.html and choose Save As Template from the File menu
Name it main-content and note the .dwt file extension
Look in the Files panel, there will now be a Templates folder within the site with this file in it
Also take a look at the Assets panel, our template is now listed within that area once you click the Templates icon in the left column
