Uploading Files to the Web Server

  • You use the Put command to upload files to the web server using Dreamweaver
  • We are going to look at the upload process within Dreamweaver in order to be able to view our web pages over the internet
  • I have already set up and tested my web server connection within Dreamweaver
  • Now I just need to transfer the files from my computer onto the web server for viewing
  • We use the Put command in Dreamweaver to upload our files to the server
  • To remember this, just think that you need to put the files onto the server
  • There are 2 ways to do this
    1. If I have a file open that I have just modified, I will use the Site menu to upload the file
    2. Site->Put or use Ctrl/Cmd U
    3. Since I already have the file open, that is a great method for uploading a single file at a time
  • The Files panel does a much better job if you need to upload more than one file at a time
    1. Select the various files you wish to upload within the Files panel and click the Put arrow
