Email Links

  • We are going to talk about email links on a web page and add an email link to a new web page called contact-us.html for our website
  • We will also set up our email link to automatically add a cc email address and subject within the new email that opens
  • An email link is a link that a user can click that opens the default email program on their computer
  • Email link issues
    1. You are assuming the user has email set up on that computer
    2. Exposing your email address to spammers
  • When you add a hyperlink to an email address on your website you are accepting these issues
  • We will add an email link to our web page
  • Create a new contact-us.html page
  • Add an h1 of Contact Us at Tranquil Travel and copy into the title area
  • Place your cursor where you want the link on the page
  • Click on the letter icon in the Common tab of the insert bar
  • The text portion shows as text on the page, the email address portion goes into the code on the page
  • If you want the user to see the email address on the page, add it in the text portion
  • We can also add a subject, body, cc or bcc to the email automatically
  • Create a second link that says Email and shows the user the email address on the web page
  • This allows the user to copy the email address into a web based email
  • You can modify the link in order to automatically add a subject line, cc, or bcc to the email when it opens
