Bold & Italics

  • Dreamweaver CC allows you to change what tag is created using the B and I icon in the Properties panel by going to the General tab in the preferences area for Dreamweaver
  • HTML5 and XHTML offer differences in the tag you use to bold and italicize text
  • Bold and italic have changed a bit over the life of HTML and have come back into play with HTML5
  • The b can create either a bold or a strong tag and the I can create either an I or an em tag
  • The strong and em tags tell screen readers to read the text differently from other text on the page
  • It is possible to use the B and I tags once again
  • You can control which tag Dreamweaver uses for the B and I within the Properties panel
  • We modified this preference in the General category within Dreamweaver preferences in the Editing Options section earlier in the course
