The goal of SJVC is to make it possible for students to receive education of a high quality that enables them to advance successfully in their professional careers. Students come from diverse educational, cultural and economic backgrounds.  The school aims to offer each one of them the strong foundation they seek and need in their fields of choice, along with developing their potential to the fullest and instilling a high level of confidence in them – a confidence that comes from gaining the required knowledge and skills from highly educated and experienced faculty. Community feeling is stressed upon to create well-rounded professionals and individuals who have their core values intact.

Founded in 1977 by Robert and Shirley Perry, the college is an accredited private junior college concentrates on providing accelerated career-focused instruction based on specifically designed curriculum. The college has grown tremendously over the years and today it has eight campuses spread all over California: Bakersfield, Fresno, Hanford, Hesperia, Modesto, Rancho Cordova, Rancho Cucamonga and Visalia. The college is proud of its achievement in churning out more than 20,000 graduates, prepared for success in their respective professional fields.

SJVC offers a wide variety of Business, Technical and Medical programs to help students advance in their careers. Some of the degrees available are Business Administration, Health Care Insurance Specialist, Criminal Justice, Emergency Services and Safety Management, Medical Assistant, Lab Technician, Dental Assisting, Medical Sonography, Surgical Technology, Industrial Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy Technology and a host of others. The college has helped thousands of graduates acquire the skills needed for the California job market ever since the year 1982. San Joaquin Valley College received regional accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the WASC, an accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

Online degree programs are available for those that wish to complete their education sooner and in a more flexible manner. Students are given a chance to work toward their degree or certification in just 5 weeks, at an accelerated pace. They will have ample scope to participate in online discussions while working on their course material. Online degrees are offered at the Associate’s level only along with special professional certification courses. The degrees are offered in fields like Medical Assisting, Criminal Justice Administration, Construction Management and more.
