Wildcat School Review

Wildcat School is a charter school that is in partnership with the university of Arizona with a basis on science and math. The student opened in 2066 for students in 6th and 7th grades. The school ensures that all students have time on the University of Arizona campus where they will be able to access research via various outreach programs, which includes fine arts to technology.

Along with the core subjects, students have the opportunity to join such extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs like band, drama, film production, computer arts, basketball, baseball, football, soccer, volleyball, softball, newspaper, science & technology, yearbook, multimedia, and student council.

The majority of comments from students and parents are positive stating the school is student center; project based, and offers a challenging curriculum. The teachers and staff ensure students are involved instead of listening to lecture which helps them learn and become the best they can be. A few parents stated the school is not as safe as it could be and that there needs to be some improvements, but does not mention any specific issues. Students stated they enjoy going to school and are learning better than they did in traditional schools.

A look at the AIMS series of exams may give you an idea if the school is providing a quality education. The percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams was below average in all grade levels and in all core subjects. Some of the scores were quite a bit below state average such as only 6% of fifth grade students passed the math exam.

It would be best to learn more about the curriculum and ask questions regarding the low scores before enrolling your child. It would also be a good idea to check out other schools in the area and see how they compare before you make a decision.
