Satori Charter School Review

Satori Charter School is a very different type of school in that the entire community works with the school. The school is more of an extended family than it is a school. The school opened in 2000 and has on average 104 students enrolled per year in grades pre-kindergarten through 8th. The school focuses on providing a challenging personalized curriculum to ensure that students succeed. Instead of a traditional school setting, Satori Charter School uses a method that uses multiple styles and methods with students learning through concepts. The school caters to working with the whole child instead of concentrating on academics alone.

The curriculum is rigorous, engaging, and teaches students to resolve conflicts while instilling responsibility in a caring and nurturing environment. The curriculum allows students to explore their own creativity while instilling the desire to be life long learners.

Along with core subjects, Satori Charter School offers a few other activities students can join, such as drama, painting, dance, film production, computer arts, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, football, and yearbook.

Parents with students attending the school are very pleased. The curriculum blends music and art, which is a blessing. One parent expressed that the children are allowed to create their own play instead of using one that been done before, giving students the opportunity to use their own creativity. Students are very happy going to school and do not want to miss a day. Teachers are caring and nurturing. The staff is helpful and work with both parents and students to ensure that any issues that arise are dealt with immediately. All comments from parents were positive with most recommending the school.

When it comes to the percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams, Satori Charter School students were above state average in all grades and all core subjects.

With the positive remarks and AIMS scores, the school is doing a wonderful job of creating a great learning environment where students are excelling.
