Family Partnership Home Study Charter School Review

Family Partnership Home Study Charter School opened in 2006 to provide an alternative to the brick and mortar traditional school setting. The school offers non-classroom based instruction with learning centers that focus on project based learning, independent at home study, Montessori, and Academy of Classical Education approach.

Since the school is based at home, it does not offer any type of extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

Most parents are very impressed with the school and the way in which they choose the method for teaching their children. Many parents praised the Montessori method that works with the whole child. Students explained they really enjoy the freedom and individualized lesson plans.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 752 to 720. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Family Partnership Home Study Charter School was seen above and below state averages. Examples include 65% of 3rd graders passed the English Language Arts exam with the average being 48%, 16% of 5th graders passed the math exam with the state average at 65%, and 45% of 7th graders passed the History exam while the average was 52%.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. In English Language Arts 88% passed the exam with the state average at 76% and in math 84% passed the exam with the average at 84%.

The school is providing quality resources and learning methods for independent study or at home learning. It would be a good idea to take a tour of the school and ensure that your child will be able to work independently to succeed.
