Animo Watts Charter High School opened in 2007 offers a college prep curriculum with small class sizes and devoted teachers. The school prepares students for college as well as instills the desire to become productive members of their community and life long learners.
The school offers a multi-cultural learning experience that stresses excellence while serving families that are diverse culturally, racially, and socio-economically providing a multi-cultural small school environment. The school is part of the Green Dot School system that expects high quality standards from its teachers, staff, and students while encouraging parent involvement.

Along with core subjects the school offers boxing, cheering, photography, anime, credit recovery, tutoring, gaming, weight lifting, guitar, driver’s education and Latin dance as after school programs.

Parents are quite pleased with the campus and the safe environment that Animo Watts Charter School has brought to their community. Students are enjoying attending school while making new friends. Most parents expressed that the teachers and staff go beyond to help each child succeed while ensuring they have the educational tools needed to succeed. Students love attending school, where teachers and staff know them by name. Many stated the school is more like family than a school.

The results of the Academic Performance Index showed that Animo Watts Charter High School had a 6% growth over the year before. The results of the California Standards Tests showed that students at Animo Watts Charter High School were mainly below state averages in most courses across all grade levels. The California High School Exit Exam was also below average; however, it showed quite a bit of improvement over previous years by several percentages.

The students test scores are improving and most parents stated that their children are doing better than when they attending traditional schools. It would still be a good idea to talk with parents or teachers before enrolling your child to ensure the learning environment is one in which your child will excel.
