Other Controls

  • The other controls I go over are:
    • FileSystemWatcher
    • NotifyIcon
    • Timer
    • WebBrowser
  • The FileSystemWatcher will watch a folder for changes made and raise an event when one happens
  • The NotifyIcon is used to display an icon for the program in the System Tray
    • The icon can react to events also, such as RightClick or DoubleClick
  • The Timer control will fire an event as predetermined times, set using milliseconds (when set to 1000 = 1 event every second)
  • The WebBrowser works just like a standard web browser window, with the following actions:
    • .Navigate will load a URL and display it
    • .GoBack and .GoForward moves through the history of the control
    • .GoHome loads the home page of the browser (this will be whatever the local Internet Explorer home page is)
