He discusses the foundational civilizations: Mesopotamia, Egypt, Mohenjo Dara and Harappa, Shang in Huang He Valley, Olmecs, and Chavin. He then goes on to explain agricultural vs. pastoral societies, the development of iron weapons, writing, religion, and trade.
