Testing for Variables

  • Talk about how we can use url variables
  • Show databases tab, we can use this for tours to show
  • We can have the first page list all the tours we offer
  • Attach a querystring that contains the tourID
  • If a user clicks the link they can view all the tours
  • In order to work with a url variable on the 2nd page of the 2 page process, you simply type url.variableName
  • We will do a simple exercise to show this process
  • Exercise:
    • Build a recordset
    • Drag the tour name to the page
    • Link it to our tourDetail page
    • Go to tour detail page & set it up
    • Add isDefined() & cflocation to redirect to tours if there is no tour ID
