Setting Up the Datasource, Part 1

  • In order to get data from the database, we use the cfquery tag
  • Inside the cfquery tag you can put anything that evaluates to create valid SQL
  • We will add a query to the page to get all of the tours in our database
  • Type this code out the first time & show cfquery tag to talk about it
  • Recordsets are returned from the database as query variables
  • datasource attribute specifies data source to connect with (required)
  • name attribute identifies the result set in memory returned by the query
    <cfquery datasource="suma" name="qTours">
    	SELECT tourName, TourDescription, numberOfDays, Country
    	FROM Tours
    	ORDER BY Country
