In this lesson we are going to take a look at finding the equation of a tangent line. A line tangent to a curve is one that only touches the curve at only one point. In order to find the equation of a line tangent to a curve at a certain point, we have to find the slope of the curve at that point. We can then write the equation of the tangent line in point-slope form. This video will explain these steps. In first example we will derive this equation and then we will just apply it in other cases.
This amounts to
simply using the point-slope form for the equation of a line!
The slope is given
by the derivative evaluated at the appropriate x-value.

results by graphing the original function and your tangent line!
