In this lecture you will learn Continuity in Calculus as well as the Intermediate Value Theorem. Professor Switkes will discuss the ideas of Continuous Functions and Discontinuous Functions followed by the Intermediate Value Theorem.

Continuity and the Intermediate Value Theorem
Look for places at
which the function is not continuous: removable discontinuities,
jump discontinuities, and infinite discontinuities.
Also look for
places where the function is not even defined these are
discontinuities as well!
If you are using
the Intermediate Value Theorem, do check that the function is
continuous on the interval involved!
If a problem asks
you to verify a conclusion of the Intermediate Value Theorem, use
algebra to do so.
