Is this how Gallup figured out that they only need 1,000 people to determine what the whole country thinks? I noticed that Gallup seems to be happy with + or - 4%, is that margin of error? If so, what was their desired confidence level? Finally, did they do a pilot study to get an initial standard deviation?
