Handling Exceptions

  • On Error GoTo is the deprecated way of handling errors
  • Err.Number tells you which error occurred
  • Err.Clear resets the error handling
  • Resume Next resumes to the line after the line containing the error
  • Try…Catch…Finally blocks allow you to catch errors and handle them smoothly
  • It is better to avert errors in the first place instead of handling them as they happen
  • The Finally block can be used to close files or do other cleanup needed
  • We can create our own exception using the Throw keyword
  • We can also define our own error messages
