Vista Real Charter High School Review

Vista Real Charter High School opened in 2005 to provide students in 9th through 12th grades that are at risk the opportunity to obtain their high school. The school offers year round independent study that is tailor made to the needs of each student personally. The school offers a variety of programs that allow students to hold down a full job time or care for their family while working toward graduation.

The school does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or students clubs as it focuses on academic studies.

The majority of parents are thrilled that the school opened in their area and are providing their children with the opportunity to graduate high school. Many stated that if it were not for this school, their children would have dropped out of school in order to hold down their job or to care for their baby. Students are so happy that they can truly achieve a high school diploma while carrying on with their responsibilities outside of school.

The Academic Performance Index increased 59 points to 690. The statewide goal is 800. Students were happy that the score increased but are not too concerned that they have not reached the goal as of yet.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was below state averages in all grade levels and all subjects.

the California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The percentage of students passing the English exam was 78% with the state average at 83% and in math 68% with the state at 84%.

The school is providing an excellent opportunity for students that might not have the chance to graduate to receive a high school diploma. To ensure this is the best school for your child, you should take a tour before enrolling.
