Visions Unlimited Academy opened in Benson in 2002 as a charter school for students in kindergarten though 8th grades. The school offers small class sizes with around 75 students enrolled per year. The teachers are highly qualified and stay on top of all their own educational need by taking university classes. Even throughout the summer months, teachers are in training as well as one day per week during the school year. This keeps teachers up to date on the latest advancements in the educational field.
The school is proud of their learning environment that works with the whole child on an individualized basis.
Parents expressed just how hard teachers work to make every child feel accepted and important. Teachers truly go the extra mile to ensure that all students are learning at their own pace. Parents stated the environment is caring, nurturing, and more like family than a school. Parents feel very comfortable and welcomed when stopping by the school for any reason with staff, administration, and teachers that are devoted to the school and every student.
The AIMS exams show a completely different picture than what parents are stating. The percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams was below average in all grades and in core subjects. If you were considering enrolling your child in the school, it would be best to ask about the low test scores and to learn more about the curriculum. When test scores are 30% or more below state standards, I think you should ask questions to learn more as you want your child receiving the best possible education.
