Vail Charter High School Review

The school district did not have a high school and students had to go to other districts prior to this to attend high school. The community decided to charter their own high school and this vision became a reality in 1997. Today the school has an average enrollment of 200 students. With all the struggles of the school from renting an area to learning they were in a military flight zone and having to move their facility the school has come a long way. The new school went under construction in 2009 and promised to be an eco friendly building. The school was reopened in 2010 to provide a quality education for students in a caring and nurturing environment.

Along with core subjects Vail Charter School provides extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs which include film production, computer arts, photography, drama, drawing, sculpture, basketball, volleyball, golf, soccer, football, science & technology, multimedia, yearbook, newspaper, and student government.

Parents are very pleased with the school and the way it has beat all obstacles that came along to provide their children with an alternative to traditional school and to provide an excellent curriculum that helps students succeed. Students expressed they love the staff and teachers. Teachers are always very helpful and do not show favoritism. On the other hand, a couple of students stated the principal and office staff is often rude while teachers do have their favorites. All students that commented expressed they enjoy the small class size that helped them get to know the teachers as well as make life long friends.

The percentage of the students passing the AIMS exams was above average in all core subjects. The school is doing a great job providing the educational tools students need to succeed and become productive members of society or join the workforce after graduation. However, it is always in your best interest to take a tour of the school to learn if it will be a good fit for your family and child.
