Union Street Charter Review

Union Street Charter opened in 2006 as a charter school to serve students in kindergarten through 5th grades. The school offers a diverse curriculum with strong foundations in social studies, math, science, and language arts. The hands-on approach and reasoning based curriculum is one main reason many parents are choosing this school. Students observe, record date, predict the outcomes, and form conclusions, which make them enjoy learning.

Along with core subjects, the school offers art, music, and Spanish twice per week. Throughout the school year, students can participate in camping, drama, cultural events, backpacking, and computer literacy.

Most parents expressed the school is safe and nurturing and the teachers are the best ever. Parents are involved and state that the school provides just the right might attention to ensure the success of each child. Students really enjoy going to school and love their teachers. Most mentioned the field trips that give them all kinds of fun things to do while learning.

The Academic Performance Index increased 25 points to 926. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are very pleased with the score and that the school has an API statewide rank of 9 out of 10.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was above average across all grade levels and all subjects.

The school is providing a wonderful education that parents are excited to see. If you have any concerns, you should take at tour to ensure the learning environment is the perfect fit for your child.
