Tri-City College Prep High School Review

Tri-City College Prep High School is a charter school providing students with a college prep curriculum as well as the opportunity to take college courses at the high school campus. The school opened in 1999 and has around 200 students enrolled per year.

The idea of the school was a dream of Mary Halvorson that wanted to provide a quality education in the area for students that would focus on math and science while preparing them for college. Today the school has grown and now offers dual courses where students can take high school subjects along with courses from their choice of two colleges: Graceland University and Yavapai College.

Along with core subjects, the school offers a variety of extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs. For those that wish to participate can join band, chorus, ceramics, computer arts, drawing, orchestra, photography, theater, video, volleyball, debate, multimedia, science & technology, yearbook, student council, and newspaper.

Students stated the school offers a challenging curriculum and you must hard but it is well worth the effort. Teachers are very caring and help you any time you may to ask questions or having trouble. The school offers a very nice environment and does not tolerate bullying or violence. Most students expressed just how much they love the school and teachers. Parents are very pleased with the way their children are learning and actually want to attend school. The best comment was about students having the option to take college classes while still in high school.

In the state of Arizona, 10th graders must pass the AIMS series of exams in order to receive their high school diploma. Tri-City College Prep High School did amazing well with 100% of students passing the reading, writing, and science while 94% passed math.

From the positive remarks from parents and students along with the AIMS scores, the school must be doing a terrific job providing a quality education.
