Skyline Prep High School Review

Skyline Prep High School is a charter school that opened in 2002 offering students in 9th through 12th grades with educational services that prepares them for pre-professional level career. The school is a bit different from traditional school as it blends arts and athletics with the curriculum. The curriculum is aligned through the Skyline school system but also ensures that each school has the tools needed to work with students on an individual basis. The personalized curriculum and classes ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed.

The school adds art to the curriculum with visual arts and comprehensive performance arts. Student will learn such art courses as multiple medium art, dimension art, music, dance, theater, photography, and graphics, to name a few.

Parents express they are glad the school is their community and working with students to succeed in a caring, close knit learning environment. Most parents are very happy with the way students are treated and have the opportunity to learn and grow. Students truly enjoy attending school, are very close to their teachers, and do not want to miss a day. Most parents stated that teachers go beyond to ensure their student’s needs are met, are involved with not only their students but also keep parents up to date with all events and progress of their child. Other parents explained that their children graduated early due to the excellent curriculum and learning environment that allowed their children to excel.

Even with all the great comments from parents and students, it would be best to learn more about the school. The percentage of students was below state averages in core subjects. Only half of 10th graders passed the reading exam, 21% in science, 25% in writing, and just a bit over half in math. With the low test scores, it would be best to learn more about the curriculum before enrolling your child.
