Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Review

Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is managed by Sequoia Schools and is a bilingual and bicultural education facility. At this school, students will learn written English as well as American Sign Language. The school provides more than just the basic core subjects such as learning the history of deaf cultures and hearing cultures. The school provides an education for students with hearing impairments in grades kindergarten through 12th grades while providing them with role models that are deaf and encourage students to become involved in their community. The school opened in 1998 and has helped several students obtain their high school diploma, play sports, attend college and achieve an education that ensures they become productive members of their community. The school shares a campus with hearing schools to ensure that students are not isolated which aids in students learning how to cope in a hearing world.

Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is the only school in charter school Arizona serving students that is deaf or hard of hearing.

The schools on the same campus with Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing are also taught American Sign Language to help students learn to be in a world with deaf individuals as well as work and play along side each student no matter if they have any type of disability.

Parents are thrilled with the school as their hearing children can attend the other school on the campus while their children that cannot hear nor have trouble hearing can attend Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The children enjoy going to school and are learning how to manage in the world while receiving a quality education. One parents expressed how students that the school can attend college with the school paying the tuition as long as the student holds a C average. This is pretty impressive and gives students the challenges they need to succeed. Students expressed that the school pushes them to do their best along with encourages them to succeed.
