San Diego Global Vision Academy Review

San Diego Global Vision Academy opened in 2010 to serve students in Kindergarten through 6th grades. The curriculum is based upon each child becoming a leader in his or her own community. They offer this type of education through service learning projects to students that may have otherwise not had the chance or opportunity to do so.

The school schedule is based on a work in progress that starts education at a young age. Each grade level has a set of standards that every incoming child must be able to perform before attending the school. Once enrolled the students are exposed to even more age appropriate projects that strengthen their mind and skills.

Parents are very pleased with the teaching methods offered at the school and say their children have grown since attending. Many have watched as their child went from hating to read to reading everything available. The teachers are loved, even by the students who love showing up to class to see what happens next. Some students would like the opportunity to join in sports.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase of 18 points from the previous year to a score of 825. The statewide goal is 800. Parents could not be more pleased with the score and are equally as happy with the increase. Teachers are highly praised for their efforts to not only motivate the children, but to raise the scores as well.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams showed a majority of the test results above the state average with only a few falling below. This occurred across the board in the 2nd through 8th grade levels.

With scores and percentages as seen above, you can rest assured that the school is working hard to raise test scores for your family. They want nothing, but the best for you child. If you do have concerns, you should take the time to talk with teachers and administration prior to enrolling your child.
