Rosie the Riveter Charter High School Review

Rosie the Riveter Charter High School opened in 2007 to offer families the opportunity for a strong educational academic for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school focuses on female students with courses based upon construction-related math and technology. This prepares the students for life after high school, including apprenticeships or trade schools.

The school curriculum is based upon adult programs as well as youth programs. That includes pre-apprenticeship courses, green jobs and recruitment opportunities for younger students. There is also a youth build program that helps students study for a GED or high school diploma and receiving on the job training while building homes for the community.

Parents and students are very pleased with the teaching formats offered at the school. This school gives adults as well as youths the opportunity to have a second chance at education. The teachers are rated very highly and they really do care about all students becoming successful. The student’s love that the school focuses on career training that is not necessarily, what women would choose to do like construction or firefighting.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase of 11 points from the previous year to a score of 936. The statewide goal is 800. Parents could not be more pleased with the score. Teachers are highly praised for their efforts to stay above the statewide goal.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results were not available at the time this article was written.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The percentage of students passing the English exam was 100% in English with the average at 83% and in math 100% passed with the average at 84%.

Rosie the Riveter Charter High School gives female students the opportunity to become whatever they want to be in life. If this sounds like the school for your daughter, it would be best to take a tour prior to enrolling.
