Rincon Valley Charter Review

Rincon Valley Charter School opened in 2004 to provide the community with an alternative to traditional schools with the integration of technology and presentations. The school serves students in 7th and 8th grades. The school prepares students for their future by developing and nurturing critical thinking skills.

Along with core subjects, the school offers sports and other extracurricular activities for its students to enjoy. This includes student council, marching band, music festivals, spring and winter concerts, cross country, co-ed volleyball, girls’ and boys’ basketball, track meets, physical education classes, writing club, science club, math clubs and sports clubs. Some students expressed they would like to see more sports such as baseball.

Parents are thrilled with the curriculum and the teachers that even the students love. The hands-on curriculum is liked by all and the lessons plans are never boring. The students love the activities offered and like going to school. Many students expressed that teachers are respectful and allow them to be creative, which makes learning fun. Parents said the school is safe and that offers strong leadership.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease of 19 points from the previous year to a score of 852. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the number and happy with the increase as well.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was above the state averages across with both 7th and 8th grade exams, which shows parents that the school is working hard to succeed.

The school is providing students with an education that uses technology to teach. This prepares the students for the real world. For more information contact Rincon Valley Charter and take a tour.
