REALM Middle School opened in 2011 to serve students in 6th through 8th grades. The school focuses on developing critical thinking skills with a rigorous curriculum so that each student has the skills to become a leader and serve their communities.
Along with core subjects, the school offers sports and other extracurricular activities. Students stated that there are very few activities offered and would like to see more programs offered so they can participate in sports.
Parents are thrilled with the curriculum at the school because it trains the students to be leaders. Critical thinking is an important aspect in life and the school relies heavily on that. The students love their teachers and admit that the curriculum is challenging, but fun as well. Parents agree that the school is safe and nurturing with teachers that care.
The Academic Performance Index showed a score of 734. The statewide goal is 800. Parents know that the school is working toward improving this score.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams was not available at the time this article was written.
The school is providing students with an education that they can use throughout their lifetime. Since the exam scores are not available, it would be best to speak with administration and learn more about the results before enrollment.
