REACH School Review

Reach School opened in 2009 to serve students in 4th through 8th grades. The school focuses on project based learning. What is offered to each student is a strong support system with a rigorous academic program mixed with creative arts and community involvement.

Along with core subjects, the school offers sports and other extracurricular activities for its students. This includes orchestra, a variety of clubs, choir, graffiti art, fencing, gardening, projectiles, Italian culture, hip hop dance, fused glass, speech and debate. Both parents and the students love the unique options of activities.

Parents are thrilled with the curriculum and the teachers that treat all students with respect and showcase each student’s uniqueness. Parents stated that the school provides a safe learning environment when all students are treated with respect. The students love the activities and say that their teachers are awesome!

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease of 6 points from the previous year to a score of 850. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the number and understand that the decrease is just another reason for the school to work harder and become better.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was both above and below the state averages across the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade level exams.

The school is providing students with an education that is not like traditional schools. This is perfect for students who want a unique learning experience. To ensure the learning environment is one that will fit your family you should take a tour before enrolling your child.
