PPEP TEC – Jose Yepez Learning Center Review

Jose Yepez Learning Center is a charter school under the management of PPEP TEC, which opened in Somerton in 2002. The school is designed for students that do not do well in traditional school. With the computer based curriculum and caring teachers, Jose Yepez Learning Center can provide a more personalized learning environment to help students excel and achieve their goals. This campus offers a curriculum for students in 10th through 12th grade with core subjects as well as school to work electives that most students enjoy.

The accelerated learning program is one that aids students in graduating in only three years by being able to obtain eight credits per year. The small class size and the opportunity to choose from day, afternoon or night classes is the major reason students enjoy attending the school. Even though the curriculum in computer bases, highly qualified teachers are available at any time when students may need a bit of help.

Each campus offers a few clubs, sports or other extracurricular activities which may include LULAC, basketball, soccer, girls scouts youth leadership, yearbook, gardening, service learning, student council, and prom.

The percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of tests in 10th grade is as follows. In reading 21% passed the exam, no student passed the science exam, in writing only 22% passed with the state average at 70%, and in math, only 16% passed with the state average at 60%.

Before enrolling your child in the school, it would be best to look at the curriculum and learn why students are not passing the state required exams to graduate from high school.
