Pivot Charter School Riverside County Review

Pivot Charter School Riverside County opened in 2011 to serve students in 6th through 12th grades. The school has an average enrollment of 20 students per year. The school offers a standards based curriculum with a brick and mortar school as well as online options.

Along with core subjects, the school does not offer sports or any student clubs, which is a major complaint of many students. On the other hand, the school does offer extra curricular activities including drawing, creative writing, graphics, and film production. Students expressed they would like to see the school offer sports like baseball, cheerleading, and student clubs such as yearbook.

Parents are thrilled with the curriculum and the teachers that treat all students with respect in a safe learning environment. Most parents expressed how much they love the idea that their children can access the courses online. This allows them the opportunity to work with their children at home when needed and helps them feel more involved with their child’s education. Most students really like the teachers and their only complaint was the lack of sports and student clubs.

The Academic Performance Index was not available at this time. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics.

The results of the California Standards Tests and the California High School Exit Exam were not available at the time of this writing.

Parents and students alike are thrilled with the school and the teachers; however, it would be in your best interest to learn more about the scores of these exams before enrolling your child.
