Paragon Science Academy Elementary opened in 2008 for an alternative education for students in kindergarten through 4th grades. The curriculum offered at the school centers on science, math, and new technologies. Along with offering core subjects the school offers extra curricular activities such as painting, drama, dance, sculpture, chorus, computer arts, band, soccer, yoga, softball, volleyball, physical education classes, baseball, cheerleading, basketball, yearbook, debate, science & technology, newspaper, and student council.

The comments from parents are quite different. On one side of the fence, you have parents praising the school, staff, and teachers while on the other side you have parents stating the school is not a quality school and does not have professional teachers. One parent expressed the school has issues with bullying, inappropriate language and actions, and even fighting in the higher grades. Teachers are often aloof and ignore concerns of parents as well as students. One parent explained that only students that are gifted receive the attention of teachers. Most parents of younger grades are very happy with their children teachers and express the school and nurturing while offering challenging courses.

By looking at the AIMS series of tests, you may get an idea if the school is actually helping students learn and be able to succeed. The percentage of 3rd graders that passed the reading exam was 1% above the state average, in writing 20% above the average, and in math 10% above average. Fourth graders were above average in reading by 20%, in science 30%, in writing 10%, and in math 30%.

All percentages were above state averages, which show the school is doing a better job than other schools in the state. With that said, and the comments of parents and students, the school is doing an excellent job in providing the educational tools students need to excel.
