Paradise Education Center Review

Paradise Education Center opened their charter campus in Surprise in 1998 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school on average has 1060 students enrolled per year.

The school works with developing the character of students along with academic goals that are challenging. Along with core subjects, the school understands the importance of extracurricular activities and offers band, drama, dance, computer arts, chorus, orchestra, film production, physical education classes, baseball, volleyball, track, basketball, softball, cheerleading, martial arts, soccer, cross-country, science & technology, multimedia, yearbook, newspaper, and student government.

Parents expressed they are truly happy with the dedicated teachers that work with students to ensure they meet their goals while challenging them to do their best. Parents also stated that bullying is stopped at once and that the extra curricular activities are amazing. The hands on learning, caring teachers, and the way their children are performing in school makes it a great school for many parents.

On the other hand, a few parents expressed their concern that the school has gone down hill over the past few years. The classes are not as challenging and students with special needs are receiving the extra help they need to succeed. One parent explained the disorganization see in the school was due to the large growth rate of students enrolling and the school trying to get use to a larger population.

A good way to see if the school is meeting the standards of the state is to look at the percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of tests. These exams are required by the state to measure if students are mastering the core subjects. The percentage of students throughout all grades that passed the reading, writing, and math exams were above the state average.

With test scores being higher than state averages, the school does offer students the educational tools to succeed and is doing a great job of helping them achieve a quality education.
