Palm Desert Charter Middle School Review

Palm Desert Charter Middle School opened in 2008 to provide students in 6th through 8th grades to prepare students for academic success. The school offers a unique take on traditional schooling with longer school days. Also uniforms are implemented as well as a challenging curriculum.

Along with core subjects, the school offers a variety of activities for its students. These include anime club, Christian club, garden club, foods club, math field day, Friends of Rachel, robotics club, and a Youth For the Treatment of Animals. The only complaint is that the school does not offer any sports. Some students expressed the desire to participate in football, soccer, and cheerleading.

The opinion of the school is very high with parents proud of the achievements of their children and the teacher involvement. The electives do include music programs and parents commented that these programs are very challenging and not for every student. Students on the other hand, stated they really like going to school.

The Academic Performance Index increased by 7 points from the previous year to a score of 878. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the increase and the number as it shows just what hard work can achieve.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was very impressive with each grade passing their exams and exceeding the state averages.

Overall, the school is providing students with an excellent education and teachers that care. It would be in your best interest to take a tour to ensure the school is the right fit for your child.
