Pacific Collegiate Charter Public School Review

Pacific Collegiate Charter Public School opened in 1999 as a charter school to provide students in 7th through 12th grades with an option over traditional school settings that utilizes a fine arts program. The school prepares students for college with traditional instruction and core subjects.

Along with core subjects, the school offers a sports program and a variety of extracurricular activities. The activities include art, dance studies, musicals, drama and intro to performing arts. The students love that fine arts are a major part of their day-to-day activities.

The opinion of the school is very mixed with most parents proud of the achievements of their children. While other parents expressed their concern over the fact, that Pacific is highly academic while other parents love the challenging curriculum. Both the parents and students loved the focus on fine arts.

The Academic Performance Index decreased by 11 points from the previous year to a score of 924. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased that their children are still above the statewide goal.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was very high as compared to the state averages. On the 7th grade English exam 100% of students passed showing just how much the students at Pacific Collegiate Charter Public School have learned.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. Students at Pacific Collegiate Charter Public School did very well with the exit exam with 99% passing the English exam with the state average at 83% and 100% in math with the state at 84%.

Overall, the school is providing students with an exceptional education and the test results to match. It would be in your best interest to take a tour to ensure the learning environment is right for your family.
