Orange County High School of the Arts Review

Orange County High School of the Arts opened in 2000 to provide students in 7th through 12th grades with an alternative to traditional schools, which will give them the opportunity to be creative. The school focuses on the arts, which is a blessing for many families that felt that their children were not receiving enough in traditional schools. Many of the students desired to be involved with performing arts but were unable to at other schools.

Most parents choose Orange County High School of the Arts for their dual academic and arts programs that provides students with the ability to think outside of the box along with academic endeavors. Students love the fact that they can choose from 13 arts conservatories such as classical voice, classical & contemporary dance, creative writing, commercial dance, culinary arts & hospitality, film & television, digital media, instrumental music, international dance, integrated arts, production & design, music & theatre, and visual arts.

The Academic Performance Index was not available at the time of this writing.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was not available at the time of this writing.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The results of the exams were not available.

From comments of parents and students, the school is doing an exceptional job; however, since the exam results are not available, it would be a good idea to ask about the results prior to enrolling your child.
