New Vision Middle School Review

New Vision Middle School opened in 2009 and serves students in 6th through 9th grades with the desire to add more grades until students can finish high school at the school. The school offers an engaging and challenging curriculum that will motivate students to learn. The school uses a variety of teaching methods that cater to the individual including performance-based assessments, self-assessments and traditional methods.

The majority of parents and students are very happy with the school and are very excited about the safe learning environment. The school is one of the safest in the areas as reported by students. The school works with students as individuals, which is why many students like the school. They express that teachers are very helpful and listen to their problems. Parents love the teachers and the safe environment. A few parents did say that communication with administration is very low and wish the staff would be more involved in communicating instead of just the numbers.

The Academic Performance Index increased 43 points from the previous year to 700. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the increase, which shows that the school and students are working hard to improve. Even though the school is below the goal for the state, many parents said that students are doing very well and truly enjoying attending school.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was below state averages, but did improve over the previous year across all grade levels and subjects. Students said they are proud of their scores and will keep working to ensure they meet the average or exceed.

Even with the exam scores, the school is improving at a very nice rate. If you have any concerns, you should take a tour prior to enrolling your child.
