McGill School of Success Review

McGill School of Success opened in 1996 as a charter school to provide students in kindergarten through 3rd grade with a unique personal learning environment. On average, the enrollment each year is around 170 students. The school bases its curriculum on the main school disciplines as well as learning to speak and read fluently. The student body is diverse with 71% Hispanic or Latino, 19% African American, 7% White, 1% Filipino, 1% Pacific Islander, and 1% unspecified.

Along with core subjects, McGill School of Success offers a few extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs, which are drawing, bicycling, cheerleading, and student government.

The majority of parents are very happy with the safe learning environment, caring teachers, and the excellent curriculum. Students stated they like their teachers. The school as reported by parents involves the entire family in fun events and activities, which makes the school more like a huge family.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 732 to 700. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was mainly below state averages with only one above average, which was 50% of 3rd graders passed the English Language Arts exam with the state average at 48%.

Parents and students love the school, which makes it a wonderful school. To learn if the school is the proper fit for your child, you should visit the school and talk with teachers.
