Lynhaven Elementary opened in 2007 for students in grades Kindergarten through fifth. The emphasis is on literacy instruction and high expectations for all students creating a well-rounded experience that will help students succeed.
Along with core subjects, Lynhaven Elementary provides extra curricular activities and other programs for students that wish to participate which includes orchestra, chorus, drawing/painting, Spanish, football, soccer, cheerleading, physical education classes, academic contests, science & technology courses.
Most parents are very impressed with the quality of teachers at Lynhaven Elementary and the curriculum. Other parents have been concerned with their children are being picked on, but overall the reviews have been very good. Students like going to school and the fun activities.
The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease in academic growth from 801 to 790. The statewide goal is a score of 800.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The test results for the students at Lynhaven Elementary showed high and low scores as compared to the state averages. Some even matched the state averages. For example on the 2nd grade Math exam 64% of students passed which matched the average for the state.
