Lou Dantzler Preparatory High School Review

Lou Dantzler Preparatory High School opened in 2007 for students in high school. The purpose is to prepare the students for their college of choice. The high school administration, teachers and staff have the desire for each student to compete at the top 100 college and universities.

Along with core subjects and college prep, students are providing with extra curricular activities and student clubs such as band, computer arts, chorus, dance, theater/drama, cheerleading, student council/government, yearbook and debate.

The reviews of Lou Dantzler Preparatory High School are mixed. Parents have actually called the school unprofessional. The majority of parents agreed that the school is strict, but that does produce results. Other parents stated that the school offered a loving and supportive environment with teachers that are devoted. Students expressed they do not have any sports like basketball, soccer, or baseball and stated it would be nice to have sports available.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase in academic growth from 597 to 612. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The available test results for students at Lou Dantzler Preparatory High School showed scores that were lower than that of the state averages across all grade levels and all subjects.

California uses the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) to test high school students’ skills in English language arts and mathematics. the student’s scores were also lower than the state averages in both subjects.

It would be a good idea to visit the school before enrolling your child. The opinion of most parents was a bit negative and the scores were below state averages. You should ensure the school will help your child succeed before enrollment.
