Liberty Charter High School Review

Liberty Charter High School opened in 2008 for students in the 9th grade through 12th grade. The main focus at this high school is literacy. The teachers strive to ensure that each student is educated, cultured, fluent in English and also able to master technology, math, science, media, history, the arts and contemporary culture.

Along with core subjects the school offers extra curricular activities, sports, and other programs including band, computer arts, drawing/painting, theater/drama, football, soccer, physical education classes, academic contests, community service, yearbook, science and technology.

Overall the parents of Liberty Charter High School love the school. The teachers were stated as being awesome and dedicated to the success of their students. The parents also loved the fact that kids had to wear uniforms making the focus more on education than what everyone is wearing. Students really like the extra curricular activities and the attention the teachers give when needed.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase in academic growth from 735 to 739. The statewide goal is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results for students at Liberty Charter High School were a mix of highs and lows as compared to the state averages. For example on the 11th grade Algebra II exam, 21% of students passed compared to the 15% state average.

California uses the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) to test high school students’ skills in English language arts and mathematics. The students here passed the state average on the Math exam and fell below on the English exam.

The school is doing an exceptional job of providing students with the educational tools they need to succeed and to enter college or join the workforce. If you have any concerns, it would be a good idea to talk with other parents that have students enrolled.
