Liberty Arts Academy Review

Liberty Arts Academy opened their charter campus in Mesa in 2008 with an average enrollment of 250 students pre-kindergarten through sixth. The school uses a college preparatory curriculum. The school is proud of their hands on learning with teachers that are not only dedicated but also caring and nurturing.

Along with cores subjects the school offers extracurricular activities, sports, and student clubs including creative writing, painting, computer arts, chorus, dance, drama, basketball, football, track, soccer, physical education classes, softball, martial arts, baseball, yearbook, student council, newspaper, science & technology

Parents love the teachers and do not have any complaints regarding the curriculum. The school presents a variety of activities where parents can be involved as well as students including musical programs, book fairs, and talent shows to name a few. It is really amazing that there are only positive remarks regarding the school. No complaints or problems were mentioned by parents or students. Students enjoy attending school and parents are very pleased with the progress their children are making.

A look at the percentages of students that passed the AIMS series of tests will help you see if a school is providing a quality education. The percentage of 3rd graders that passed the exam was above state averages in reading and math, but was below average in writing. 4th graders were above average in reading and writing, but below average in science and math. 5th graders were above average in reading, writing, and math. 100 percent of 6th graders passed the reading exam, while the percentage was above average in writing and math.

It would be in your best interest to talk with a few parents and take a tour of the school. It is very unusual not to find at least one parent with a negative comment so I would be a bit cautious. Some parents may not be speaking what they really think about the school. Tests scores were not that great in some subjects, which should be a red flag that the school may not be providing the best educational tools to help students excel.
