LaVerne Elementary Preparatory Academy opened in 2008 for students in grades Kindergarten through 7th. The school offers an all day kindergarten for the younger students with the goal to prepare students to accept the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship that includes respect among other values.

Along with the core subjects, students can participate in band, computer arts, drawing/painting, theater/drama, Latin, Spanish, physical education classes, academic contests, community service, yearbook, and debate.

Parents love that their children are exceeding expectations at LaVerne Elementary Preparatory Academy. The younger students are taught to read at higher levels and even count to 200. The potential is pushed as high as it can go and that is appreciated by all parents. Students really enjoy attending school, but the older students stated they would like to see sports like basketball and cheerleading offered.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase in academic growth from 869 to 911. The statewide goal is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. On nearly every grade level and academic tests, the students exceeded the state average even tying that number in 5th grade English Language Arts with 63%.

The school is providing a quality education and is performing at above state average levels. It would still be a good idea to take a tour to ensure the learning environment is one in which will fit with your family before enrolling your child.
