Lake County International Charter School (LCICS) a.k.a. Living Learning Charter School Review

Lake County International Charter School (LCICS) a.k.a. Living Learning Charter School opened in 2005 for grades Kindergarten through 8th. The school was built upon the International Baccalaureate Organization with the focus on providing each student with a skill set to become knowledgeable, principled, creative and confident.

The school offers fitness and nutritional programs. They also offer after school programs, gardens to showcase how food and flowers enter the earth along with multi age classrooms for real world experience. There are no extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs available at this time.

Parents of Living Learning Charter School love that the learning is project based. Their kids are learning practices that will be used well beyond their school years parents are also fond of the school wanting them to be a large part of the educational process. Students enjoy the school but would like to see more sports and student clubs offered.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase in academic growth from 757 to 825. The goal in the state of California is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The test scores for students at Lake County International Charter School were mixed for all grade levels. For example, 54% of 4th graders passed their English Language Arts exam with the state average at 67%. For 6th grade students, 63% of them passed their English exam with the state average at 59%.

Overall, the school is providing a quality education. It would still be a good idea to talk with parents and visit the school to learn if the environment is one, in which your child will excel.
