KIPP Bridge Charter School Review

KIPP Bridge Charter School opened in 2002 for students in grades 5th through 8th. The school believes in an extended school day and year to demonstrate a no shortcuts mentality. This helps their students focus on the task at hand and also gives them real world experience unlike traditional schools.

Along with core subjects, KIPP Bridge Charter school provides students with other activities they can participate in which include band, computer arts, dance, theater/drama, drawing/painting, soccer, basketball, martial arts/self defense, physical education classes, and yoga.

Parents love KIPP Bridge Charter School although they do realize that this school is focused on standardized tests and results. They have a rigorous academic program that is not for every child, but worth the extra effort and hard work explained most parents. Students said they enjoy the school, but would like to see a few more extra curricular activities or sports.

The Academic Performance Index showed a slight decline in academic growth from 910 to 901. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The majority of test results for the students at KIPP Bridge Charter School were above the passing rate set by the state average. One exception was a 61% set by 5th graders on their English Language Arts exam with the state average at 63%.

At KIPP Bridge Charter School the students are priority one. The teachers are dedicated. It would still be a good idea to take a tour of the school before enrolling your child to ensure the learning environment is one in which your child will flourish.
