King Chavez – Primary Academy Review

King Chavez – Primary Academy opened in 2005 for students in grades Kindergarten through second. The administration at the school realizes that even at a young age students need to strive for excellence in academics, the arts and athletics. This school offers a loving and nurturing environment for each student.

Along with core subjects, students can choose other classes, which include computer arts, video/film production, dance, drawing/painting, theater/drama, academic contests and yearbook. The athletics program offers physical education classes, yoga, martial arts/self defense, cheerleading, football, lacrosse and soccer.

Parents rated this school as getting better each year. The teachers are always great and the test scores show improvement each year. The kids want to go to school and as many parents know that is the start to a great future in education. The staff is very helpful and always lends a hand as reported by parents.

The Academic Performance Index showed a slight increase in academic growth from 879 to 883. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are quite impressed with this umber and the school is actually one of the few elementary schools that are rated so high.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

Second grade students are the only test results as they are the only grade at this school that is required to take the exams. 72% passed the English Language Arts exam with the state at 58%. For the Math exam 80% passed with the state average was 64%.

The school is providing students with an awesome beginning to their educational years. For those that have concerns, it would be a good idea to meet with teachers and administration to answer all your questions.
