Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School Review

Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School opened in 2008 to provide students in 6th through 12th grades with a learning environment that prepares them for their high school years and beyond with a college prep curriculum. On average, the school has 70 students enrolled per year. The school provides the curriculum via online classes. The school provides laptop computers to students if needed. Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School caters to students that have the desire to attend college upon graduation. Students also have the opportunity to redo assignments or retake tests in order to achieve higher scores.

Since Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School is an online school, it does not provide extra curricular activities or sports; however, field trips are available to help students learn more about various subjects.

There are mixed opinion among parents. Some parents are very happy with the curriculum, administration, and teachers, while others stated more organization is needed. Students on the other hand, enjoy attending school online. The only complaint from students is they would like to see more activities in order to meet some of their classmates.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 617 to 634. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School was not available at the time of this writing.

Since the exam scores were not available, it would be a good idea to learn more about the percentage of students that are passing the exams to get a feel of the number that are graduating. Talking with other parents is another great way to get a feel of the learning environment.
