Imperial Valley Home School Academy opened in 2010 for grades 1st through 6th. As the name implies this school uses a home school program that focuses on core subjects. The arts are also a big part of the objective that encompasses Imperial Valley.
As stated above students are introduced to a new way of learning with home school type courses paired with traditional classroom set up instruction. The core subjects are taught as well as a variety of art inspired classes to increase creativity and self expression.
The reviews of Imperial Valley Home School Academy were great. One parent was concerned with her child starting the school year late, but he caught up quickly and loves going to school each day. Another parent stated that the teachers are nice and helpful and everything that is needed to continue education at home is provided. Students love the opportunity to do their schoolwork at home.
The Academic Performance Index showed no score available at this time. For California the state goal is 800.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
Neither the California Standards Tests nor the Exit exams are given at the school at this time.
